Our Purpose
The purpose of the Federation—Mobilising all the resources of insurance to move society forward confidently—is reflected in the actions it undertakes daily:
- It highlights our specific role as a professional federation, whose goal is to “mobilize” its employees, its members, and all its stakeholders.
- It reinforces the collective mission of promoting the insurance sector, which provides prevention, protection, and resilience to society. In short, it means generating “confidence” that enables everyone to face daily risks and plan for the future: insurers manage risks so that society can take them and move forward.
- Finally, it emphasizes the need for continuous adaptation: insurance evolves alongside society, anticipating new risks to address future challenges.
Our Missions
The Federation was established in July 2016 through the merger of the French Federation of Insurance Companies (FFSA) and the Group of Mutual Insurance Companies (GEMA).
It brings together all insurance and reinsurance companies operating in France—254 companies representing more than 99% of the overall insurance market.
Our main missions are to:
- Safeguard all economic and social aspects related to insurance activities.
- Represent the insurance sector before national and international public authorities, institutions, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide a forum for consultation and analysis of financial, technical, and legal matters.
- Supply essential statistical data about the profession.
- Inform the public and the media.
- Promote prevention initiatives.
- Strengthen the role of insurance in academia and education.
